ABSTRACT

In contrast to the medical model, which equates disability with the functional limitations of the individual, ADA addresses the environmental side of disability. e act is specically designed to remove attitudinal, architectural, and physical barriers that have the e™ect of excluding individuals with disabilities from places of employment and commerce. As more attention is given to the role that environmental factors play in creating and maintaining disability, the role of ergonomic interventions in disability prevention and management will assume more importance.
