ABSTRACT

As designers of Web entities develop graphical user interfaces and interaction workŸows, they remain keenly aware of their end users, their goal-directed actions, and tasks they need to complete. Yet beneath the surface needs of users lie an equally critical set of requirements to meet the operational needs of functionally diverse people. An interface workŸow must accommodate a range of input devices. For example, a mouse-or touch-screen driven interface might not be usable by a person with carpal tunnel syndrome or with arthritis in her hands. Rich multimedia without text transcripts or captioning has little value for someone with hearing loss.
