ABSTRACT

The drying of Ÿood-damaged property is an essential and integral part of the Ÿood recovery process (Proverbs and Soetanto, 2004) as appropriate and adequate drying is key to reinstating the property in a timely and effective manner (Soetanto and Proverbs, 2003). There exists a considerable body of information and guidance on the drying of Ÿood-affected property; see, for example, the BRE (Building Research Establishment) (1974), CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information) (2005), BSI (British Standards Institution) (2005), Flood Repairs Forum (2006), and EA (Environment Agency) (2007). Tagg et al. (2010) also provide a comprehensive review of the available guidance and advice on drying Ÿood-damaged buildings, incorporating references to detailed technical guidance, research ¥ndings, and international reports.
