ABSTRACT

The way we use our land, and plan for its use, are central to the way we manage Ÿoods and thereby minimize the risk of Ÿooding to our communities and the infrastructure that supports them. Land has two main functions in relation to Ÿooding: (1) it is the land that generates the Ÿoods through runoff of surface water and (2) it is the land that provides areas in which Ÿoodwaters can be temporarily conveyed or stored.
