ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: A complex of seven reinforced concrete buildings constructed in the late 1970s to house the Data Processing Centre of the Bank of Greece was upgraded seismically in order to withstand (although marginally) the design earthquake with Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) of 0.16 g prescribed by the current code. The evaluation of the buildings and the design of its retrofitting were realized according to Part 3 of Eurocode 8 (EN1998-3), published in 2005 as the European Standard for seismic assessment and retrofitting of buildings, including the use of externally bonded Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs).
