ABSTRACT

In Chapter 2 we reviewed the basic properties and dynamics of the KdV soliton. These same properties and dynamics are found in many other physical systems in nature such as acoustic waves in plasma and vibrations in anharmonic lattices (spring-mass). In the electrical domain, a structure known as the nonlinear transmission line (NLTL) also supports KdV solitons in the form of voltage waves. This chapter will review the NLTL structure and the electrical solitons it supports, including the link with the anharmonic lattice and the KdV equation.
