ABSTRACT
Plants have inspired numerous innovations (Bar-Cohen, 2005), and mimicking the adherence of seeds to animal fur led to the invention of Velcro and to numerous applications including clothing and cable ties. Plants are also able to fracture rocks and lift heavy structures, causing great damage and, while it is a relatively easy task for tree roots, it is dif„cult to mimic their function.
