ABSTRACT

The "baby boomer" generation, those born approximately between 1 946 and 1 964, have begun approaching senior or "elderly" stahlS. By 2000, it was reported that more than half the adult population was 45 years old or older, and the 85 and older age group became the fastest growing in the country (Zhao, 200 1 ; Fisk, Rogers, Chamess, Czaja, & Sharit, 2009) . Accompanying this increase in the senior population is the use of technology, specifically the internet, which has become

more omnipresent. Today, people of all ages use the internet in every aspect of their lives, including work, personal, social, and recreational activities (Fisk, Rogers, Charness, Czaja, & Sharit, 2009) . Consequently, larger percentages of seniors are online now than in the past (Jones & Fox, 2009) . Scniors, particularly, have demonstrated great interest in the internet because it gives them another method to communicate and stay informed (Nielsen, 2002) .
