ABSTRACT
As we move into the 21 st century, we are confronted by the convergence of two major worldwide trends: Populations will have relatively more elderly people and technological imlovation is likely to occur at an unprecedented rate. If elderly people are able and prepared to use new technologies there is the potential to greatly improve the quality of their lives. China has a significant percentage of the population of the world but, no previous study has investigated the acceptance of technology by elderly Chinese. Here, a review of the literature on technology acceptance models and theories was conducted and it was found that the existing technology acceptance models have not considered the unique characteristics, abilities, and limitations of the elderly. More research is needed to generate a better understanding of determinants of technology acceptance by the elderly.
