ABSTRACT

The article is divided into four parts: an introduction; a presentation of research methods; a description of the empirical stage of research and concluding remarks. In the introductory part, it has been shown that the idea of integration of the disabled has been implemented for a few decades. This idea is supported by ergonomics, which contributes to the prevention of segregation and isolative tendencies, as well as the stigmatisation, intolerance and discrimination of the disabJed. In part two of the study, research methods have been described, such as: a critical analysis of specialist literature, a comparative analysis and an interview questionnaire. In the empirical part, certain ergonomic solutions to reduce architectural and spatial barriers have been exemplified as a significant factor conductive to the integration of the disabled. The article ends with a summary, which includes suggestions for future ergonomic undertakings for the disabled.
