ABSTRACT
This entry was originally written to provide a historical record of thermal imaging performance models. The editors feel that is still valuable information and worthwhile to have a record of past performance models. Over the years, these models have been used for the design of target acquisition systems on ground vehicles, rotorcraft, fighter jets, and drones including billions of dollars of thermal imaging systems. These models have all be replaced with the Vollmerhausen’s Target Task Performance (TTP) Metric as it is the basis for the military thermal imaging performance model NVTherm. Only the abstract and last section have been updated since the original entry.
