ABSTRACT
This entry introduces holography by depicting the concept in four different realms. Useful definitions for holography are then provided. The history of holography is discussed with some special emphasis on Gabor's early contributions. Finally, characteristics of holograms are presented along with a brief description of some types of holograms.
