ABSTRACT
The objective of this entry is to provide the reader with a general understanding of the hardware elements of an electro-optical remote-sensing satellite payload, including a functional definition of key subsystems, a description of how a remote-sensing payload operates, and the key performance metrics. We will look at imagers for broadband sensing in the visible and infrared (IR) spectrum as well as at multispectral (MS) and hyperspectral (HS) payloads.
