ABSTRACT

This entry focuses on the psychophysics used in the minimum resolvable temperature difference (MRTD), the minimum resolvable contrast (MRC), and the triangle orientation discrimination (TOD), and gives an overview of the measurement methods described in the literature. STANAG 4349 only summarily defines the MRTD measurement method and the psychophysical procedure used is not very accurate. Therefore many researchers have attempted to improve the method or use alternative psychophysical techniques. In this entry, an overview of a number of published MRTD measurement methods and the method used for the TOD are given.
