ABSTRACT

It is remarkable how the same principles of visual information processing are used repeatedly, in different visual modalities. A close study of the physiology and the psychophysics of the other senses would find the same universality. The parsimonious nature of sensory information processing is a boon to scientists and engineers who study and build interfaces to these systems.
