ABSTRACT

Many people would like to be innovative, but only some can create something really new. However, innovation characteristics are something that can be improved, and therefore measuring the degree of innovation competences at the individual, group, team, and the whole company level in any organization is crucial and almost mandatory. In this chapter, we present the current status of our research tool, Pursoid, with which we have had the opportunity to measure the innovation competence of individuals. In addition, we show how we have obtained a realistic view of the way the collective degree of innovation competence can be revealed. All the results can be used to improve and develop the overall innovation competence level inside organizations. It is also possible to educate and teach individuals and the entire workforce to see how they can discover new ways and ideas of how to prioritize, rank, analyze, and improve their innovation competence characteristics and the overall collective innovation competence. Companies can survive better when they have active people who can really see the external and internal changes in their company’s business world. Inside companies, innovation competence has a special dimension of added value. Therefore, the degree of innovation competence is one of the most important measurements to be considered and analyzed inside organizations. In this research, we show how this kind of competence can be measured indirectly.
