ABSTRACT

Habitat suitability is the capacity of a habitat to support a particular species.[1] To fully understand habitat suitability and how it is used in applied research, it is necessary to understand concepts of fi tness, habitat quality, and basic niche theory. The remaining portion of the introduction will cover these concepts. The subsequent section discusses how these theories are used to build spatial models of species distribution. The fi nal main section explores some of the areas of conservation and land management that use these types of habitat suitability models.
