ABSTRACT

Both natural processes and human activity contribute to the spatial variability encountered in soils. Jenny’s equation of soil formation is the most commonly used model of pedogenesis that attempts to understand differences among soils in terms of fi ve spatially variable factors. These fi ve factors are responsible for landscape to continental-scale variations in soil properties.[6] The mosaic of different soil series created by the superposition of Jenny’s factors may be regarded as the fabric of soil variability which is further modifi ed by land management.
