ABSTRACT

Perishable cargo can be dened as goods that will deteriorate over a given period of time or some cargo that will deteriorate if exposed to adverse temperature, humidity, or other environmental conditions. Perishable cargo includes goods from the health care and food sectors, including pharmaceutical products and nonhazardous biological materials, and any time-and temperature-sensitive goods that need to be properly prepared, packaged, and handled. International Air Transport Association (IATA) Perishable Cargo Regulation suggests methods for packing and keeping perishable cargo to reduce the impact of temperature during transportation. Table 8.1 shows the types of perishables dened by IATA Perishable Cargo Regulation (IATA 2009).
