ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The Large Scale Seismic Test (LSST) at Hualien is an international cooperative research project to study the effects of soil-structure interaction. A 1/4 scale containment model and accelerometer arrays were installed at the seismic active area of Hualien. During the Sept. 21, 1999, Chi-Chi earthquake, Taiwan, entire seismic motions at the Hualien LSST site were successfully recorded in the deployed LSST arrays. Acceleration time-histories and associated response spectra from surface and subsurface arrays and from containment responses are reported herein to provide a field data base for further applications.
