ABSTRACT
For those few, more important suppliers, a buyer may seek a deeper relationship. The entry describes common aspects of these relationships. These include supplier certification, performance rating and audits, continuous improvement, and corrective action. Some relationships will evolve to reliance on the supplier for improvements in product design and production processes, a process called “early supplier involvement,” or ESI.
