ABSTRACT

As indicated in previous chapters, investigators in law enforcement agencies and coroner and medical examiner ožces across the country are solving cold cases with the latest tools and techniques, combined with old-fashioned police work. šis chapter discusses ways that law enforcement agencies can use the media to their advantage to disseminate information and bring in new leads. In its broadest de—nition, media refer to all forms of mass communication, from traditional newspaper articles and television broadcasts to innovative information-sharing and investigative techniques that include agency websites, social media, and cold case playing cards.
