ABSTRACT
The early decades of the twentieth century saw the birth and growth of the petroleum industry in Oklahoma. Drilling derricks sprouted like wild†owers throughout the state, making it among the top oil producers in the nation and Tulsa the “Oil Capital of the World” by the 1920s.
