ABSTRACT

A bstrac t. Theory and algorithms will be presented for the generation of a parametric curve f into ]R2 or ]R3 which interpolates a finite set of data points Po> Pit • • • > Pn<> preserves the shape of the data if possible, and attains a specified arc length L. We allow for specification of tangent directions at all of the data points. This work extends and uses recent work by Roulier and by Roulier and Piper on length specification for the case of two data points and unit tangent vectors. In this work, the arc length is reduced to a function L(a) of a single variable a.
