ABSTRACT
I f all products in the Arms & Pistons family contained similar work content with only a small variation, they might flow through the pacemaker with some variation, but at the end of the interval we should be able to produce the products required. Some variation would occur at the last station, as we have balanced the other stations to our planned cycle time and left this station to fluctuate based on work content. Some products take longer to produce than the takt time given. This causes the pacemaker to slow down when they run. This may happen even if products are within 30 percent work content of each other. Remember, 30 percent is just a guideline to select product families. You may change the product families after reviewing the balance charts.
