ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book outlines the “microenvironmental” factors that further affect decomposition. It considers some of the variables that can affect dispersion of odor from a decedent in different environments. The book covers some of the newer technologies that can be used before or while deploying the human remains detection dog. Normal cell structure was covered along with the requirements a cell needs to live. It reviews the expanding from the cellular level to the systemic and, finally, total body, the stages of decomposition. The book provides a pictorial “display” of the process and how the environment affects the physical outcome. After learning how these variables can affect how and what is found, the handler and/or investigator should be better prepared to do his/her job.
