ABSTRACT

Acute pancreatitis is an inammatory disease of the pancreas with different degrees of severity. Often the nutritional status declines due to the acute systemic inammatory response, catabolism, and the lake of appropriate nutritional support. Under normal condition, the pancreas plays an important role for digestion and absorption of nutrients. An impaired pancreatic function has negative consequences for the host. Nutritional deciencies can occur rapidly.
