ABSTRACT
Tissue engineering (TE) is an emerging multidisciplinary application that involves biology, medicine, and engineering and has the potential for restoring, maintaining, and enriching tissue and organ function. Medical or surgical procedures that have attempted to partially replace lost tissue account for a large part of healthcare resources, which exceeds $400 billion1 per year.
