Producers often enjoy a short break after harvest and a long summer of hard work. Machinery may be stored for the winter, but producers would not think of pulling their equipment into the fields for the next season without thoroughly reviewing its readiness and reconditioning it to ensure good performance. The financial risks of downtime during critical production periods can be substantial.
