ABSTRACT

Evolution took millions of years to progress to the development of primates and then Homo sapiens.1 It took humans thousands of years to get to the industrial revolution, after which technological developments continued with an exponential rate of change-performance doubling at an accelerating rate.2,3

Toward the end of the twentieth century, signicant changes in the human landscape have occurred in just decades. In the next century, technology acceleration that is centered on cheap and abundant computing power will continue with major evolutionary consequences.4
