ABSTRACT
Energy can exist in many forms, and in some forms has the ability to move from one place to another. When energy moves as a wave through a medium, this is known as radiation. Since sound is a mechanical vibration within an elastic medium, and since such vibration of any part of that medium will be passed on to neighbouring parts, it is valid to refer to sound (and ultrasound) as radiation, though not of course ionising radiation.
