ABSTRACT

Disasters, by their nature, cause chaos. In response, societies strive to bring normalcy to the aœected community. When a disaster kills a large number of people, the response o„en poses unique challenges for disaster responders, the community, and particularly the families and friends of those killed. ‹e return to normalcy becomes more complex as the cultural response to mass death intersects with the requirements of the forensic response to recover and identify the dead.
