ABSTRACT

The optimal management of any patient with a malignancy relies on a well coordinated multidisciplinary team (MDT) to optimize the use of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy (RT). The treatment of patients with softtissue and bone sarcomas is an excellent example of this. To operate effectively each member of the MDT should understand the principles of the treatments provided by the other members of the team, including the selection of patients for multimodal therapy, and they should have an understanding of how the effects of one treatment can affect the delivery and the outcome of other treatments to be given.
