Over the last 30 years there has been a significant shift in the surgical management of patients with extremity musculoskeletal tumours from amputation to limb-sparing surgery, which is feasible in 90% of patients.1 Using modern implants and surgical techniques, patients can have functional limbs even following major skeletal and soft-tissue resections.2
