ABSTRACT
Epidemiology is an important part of orthopaedic research. Thus, one must begin by asking what is epidemiology and why is it important to the practising clinician? There are several definitions of epidemiology:
Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in specified populations and the application of this study to the control of health problems.1
