Diabetes mellitus is a very common disorder, and diabetic foot complications account for about 10% of all emergency admissions in orthopaedics, National University Hospital.1
There is a need to develop a subspecialty for the diabetic foot. This is a neglected area, confounded by the fact that patients mainly belong to the lower socioeconomic group.
