ABSTRACT

Pain management Simple analgesia is usually all that is required after minor surgery. Some procedures can be painful when the local anaesthetic effect has worn off. This is particularly the case for surgery on the nail bed (e.g., wedge resection). Here, postoperative pain can be reduced by mixing a long-acting local anaesthetic (e.g., bupivacaine) with rapid-acting lidocaine at the time of local anaesthesia.
