ABSTRACT

Onset may be as early as infancy and a family history of the condition is not unusual.

Severe palmar sweating may render schoolwork almost impossible. As a general rule, the condition worsens during adolescence. The only permanent cure is by interruption of the sympathetic supply to the eccrine glands by sympathectomy. At the present time, plantar hyperhidrosis is not treated, and treatment is confined to the management of palmar and axillary sweating.
