ABSTRACT

Ureteric duplication occurs with duplications of the kidney. Post-mortem studies have demonstrated upper tract duplication in 0.8 percent of the population. There is not a predilection to a particular side as the left and right kidneys are affected equally, and bilateral duplication occurs in approximately 40 percent of cases. It can be inherited as an autosomal dominant trait with incomplete penetrance. The incidence of duplication among members of affected families is 8 percent.
