ABSTRACT
Biochar is a product of a biomass-heating process in an oxygen-limited environment, yielding little or no CO2 (pyrolysis). This process also produces syngas and bio-oil that can be used in heat and power generation. The yields of each component (syngas, bio-oil, and biochar) are dependent upon the temperature of pyrolysis, the residence time of the process, and the type of feedstock used.
