ABSTRACT
Motivation is one of the central topics in the social sciences, and a similar central role is played by work motivation in the research and practice of administration. Work motivation has received intensive theoretical development, and scholars have reported thousands of studies bearing on the topic. Work motivation refers to how much a person tries to work hard and work well—to the arousal, direction, and persistence of effort in work settings.
