ABSTRACT

Businesses are increasingly associated with, and sometimes held accountable for, human rights violations. This interdisciplinary line of research seeks to answer the following questions: What are the causes of corporate human rights abuse? And, what factors help to reduce the levels of corporate human rights violations? This entry outlines how business and human rights scholarship is addressed within a) democratic contexts; b) civil war; and c) authoritarian regimes. The entry concludes with suggestions for future research.
