ABSTRACT

The objective of health education is to make people value health as a worthwhile asset, with a desire to live long and feel well; and with the support of health personnel, to learn what they can do as individuals, families and communities to protect and improve their own health. The more people value health, the more they will be willing to make the appropriate allocation of resources to promote and

safeguard their own health. At the personal level, they will be prepared to make the effort on such matters as exercise, cleanliness in the home, diet and discipline with regard to the use of tobacco and alcohol. The community and the state will also be more prepared to allocate resources for improvement of environmental sanitation, and for other priorities within the health services.
