ABSTRACT
The word megaureter conveys the image of a grossly dilated ureter. The term is non-specific and does not provide insight into the pathophysiology. Our knowledge of the megaureter has changed greatly over the past 15 years, primarily due to fetal sonography, which has allowed us to follow the natural history of the megaureter and gain a better insight into treatment (Figure 39.1).
