Applications Requests for imaging of the penis are uncommon, but there are a few important applications. General applications may be seen from the subheadings in this chapter.
Erectile dysfunction was, at one time, extensively investigated by a combination of pharmacologically stimulated penile arterial and venous Doppler studies and contrast
cavernosography. As new algorithms have been developed for the assessment of erectile dysfunction, however, most patients are studied and treated without Doppler studies. Despite this trend, Doppler studies are still used in some centers on selected patients, and so they are included in this chapter.
