ABSTRACT

There have been many changes and developments in recent decades related to the increased consumption and appreciation of seafood products, which include sh and shellsh. In general, this can be attributed to greater international commercialization of trade, the advent of low-cost travel, and the steadily increasing global population. All these factors inuence the socioeconomic pressures related to growth, which include the need for larger areas of suitable land (farming) or water (aquaculture) used to satisfy the increasing demand for all types of food products. Unfortunately, this demand places great pressure on the safety management mechanisms designed to reduce any related hazards that might occur during the production chain. In addition, these mechanisms are used to ameliorate the controls that help to identify the critical points or weaknesses that could reduce the level of consumer protection.
