ABSTRACT
The stability of a slope is related to the shear strength of the soil where a fi ne balance needs to be maintained between the forces perpendicular to the slope and tangential to the slope. However, at times natural or anthropogenic processes, may interfere with this balance which could induce landslides. This is called the safety factor, which is a relationship between resistant forces and the acting forces.
