ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION A clinical trial is defined as a medical experiment on a sample of patients to compare the effects of two or more treatments. The treatments could be, for example, different drugs or surgical techniques, and the measured effects might be symptom severity, recurrence of symptoms, recovery time or death. The results obtained from such a study are then used to make inferences about which treatment should be recommended for a more general population of patients.
