ABSTRACT
Organisms can be understood as simple input-output systems. Processes such as photosynthesis or foraging represent the input of materials and energy, and production is represented by their offspring (Pianka 2000). Therefore, it is possible to understand the dynamics of a population and to evaluate how both abiotic and biotic interactions affect a given specimen’s fi tness (Camara et al. 2011).
