ABSTRACT

In physiology, the term perfusion refers to the process of blood delivery into a capillary bed in a biological tissue. A healthy adult with a body weight of 60  kg has approximately 4.2-4.8 L of blood on average, which is approximately 6%–8% of the human body weight. Blood circulates within the body through blood vessels and delivers necessary substances such as nutrients and oxygen to the cells and also washes metabolic waste product away from tissue. Differentiated from the function and components, arterial blood carries oxygen and venous blood carries carbon dioxides. The human brain gets 20% of the total blood flow, even though it is only 2% of the body weight. The amount of blood supply guarantees the energy consumption needed by this most important organ of the body.
